ART & Soft Tissue Therapy

Hands-on treatment that addresses muscles, tendons, fascia, and nerve-related restrictions that limit movement.

Hands-on treatment that addresses muscles, tendons, fascia, and nerve-related restrictions that limit movement.

Active Release Techniques® and soft tissue therapy are used to address tissues that are not gliding, lengthening, or functioning the way they should. For athletes, soft tissue restrictions can change mechanics, reduce mobility, and create compensations throughout the chain. The goal is not general massage. The goal is specific treatment of the structures affecting movement and performance. Dr. Eric Merritt is an ART® Elite Provider.

What I assess

Areas of soft tissue restriction, tenderness, altered movement, and how muscles, tendons, fascia, and surrounding tissues are contributing to limited motion or discomfort.

What care may include

Active Release Techniques®, other soft tissue techniques, mobility work, tissue-specific loading, and movement strategies designed to improve how the treated area functions.

What to expect

Soft tissue treatment is used as part of a broader movement plan, not as a stand-alone fix. The goal is to reduce restriction, improve motion, and then reinforce those changes through movement and loading.
