The method

Not a menu of treatments. A system for better movement.

Not a menu of treatments. A system for better movement.

Not a menu of treatments. A system for better movement.

Back pain during golf. Tightness that returns after every run. A shoulder that limits your lifting. Every service at Ascend uses the same biomechanics-first approach: identify what’s overloaded, explore the movement or capacity factors that may be contributing, and use the right treatment strategy to restore function.

Step 1

Calm

Put the fire out.

Your plan may combine hands-on care, ART® soft tissue treatment, and practical exercises to help manage pain and restore comfortable movement — each tool matched to your body and goals.

  • Hands-on treatment plus movement-based care

  • Built around your sport, body, and goals

Step 2

Assess

Understand why it keeps coming back.

We assess the painful area and how you bend, rotate, lift, or run to understand what may be contributing. The findings guide your plan without assuming a single cause.

  • Looks beyond “where it hurts”

  • Connects symptoms to your sport and daily life

Step 3

Rebuild

Rebuild what pain took away.

Build strength, movement control, and confidence with exercises matched to your starting point. Follow clear, progressive steps toward the demands of the gym, the course, or your daily routine.

  • Build strength and movement control

  • Prepare for your sport and daily life

Step 4

Ascend

Get back to it — and stay in it.

Put your progress to work in your sport and training. Build a routine that supports your goals, with guidance on managing activity, progressing your workload, and knowing when to seek support.

  • Return to sport, training, and the course

  • Ongoing care matched to your demands

Services

Services built around the athlete, not the symptom

Services built around the athlete, not the symptom

Biomechanics-first sports chiropractic care for athletes and active adults who need more than temporary relief. Pain tells you where the body is irritated — it does not always tell you why. Choose the right tool for the problem: tap a service to see what’s assessed and what care may include.

Sports chiropractic care at Ascend is not about giving every athlete the same treatment. It is about identifying which joints are not moving well, how that restriction is affecting the rest of the chain, and how to restore motion in a way that supports better mechanics.

What I assess

Joint motion, soft tissue restrictions, movement quality, strength, motor control, and the physical demands of your sport or activity — to identify what is contributing to the problem, not just where it hurts.

What care may include

Joint manipulation or mobilization, soft tissue treatment, mobility work, corrective exercise, movement retraining, and progressive loading based on your specific presentation.

Headshot of Dr. Eric Merritt, sports chiropractor and biomechanist at Ascend Sports Chiropractic

Dr. Eric Merritt, DC, CCSP®, MS — sports chiropractor & biomechanist.

My background isn’t typical for a sports chiropractic practice. I studied kinesiology at Penn State, then earned a Master’s in Biomechanics from the University of Georgia — where my research focused on movement mechanics, performance, and how the body loads, compensates, and eventually breaks down. I brought that foundation into clinical training at Life University, where I completed my Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

That combination — research-grade movement science and hands-on clinical care — is what shapes how I evaluate every athlete who walks in.

Over the years I’ve worked with athletes at every level: youth, collegiate, professional, and recreational. My research has touched golf swing biomechanics, injury dynamics, and concussion-related balance. That context matters, because no two athletes present the same way — and no two treatment plans should either.

At Ascend, the work is straightforward: reduce pain, restore movement, rebuild capacity, and send you back to your sport with a plan that actually makes sense for your body.
